A Fresh Start

Splash Mountain Resort

More teaching and equipping during the seminar at Splash Mountain Resort in Los Banos last November.

Why celebrate New Year?

All around the world people look forward to New Year’s Eve with wide eyed expectation. Here in the Philippines, we have the usual countdown, rock concerts, cultural shows, merrymaking and never ending supply of delicious food on the table (depending on how much a household can afford) while waiting for the great highlight of the celebration, firecrackers and fireworks! Filipinos spend a lot of money on this event. I believe more than half of their thirteenth month pay goes to fireworks and firecrackers. The louder the bang and the more elaborate the play of lights the better.

New Year is a time when we say goodbye to the past and welcome the future. Where we forget and leave behind, hopefully, old grudges and look forward to new beginnings and challenges.

Gospel Xpress team

All set, ready, willing and able for another year of door- to- door evangelism.

We, the workers and staff of GX, are ready to face the new year armed with God’s promise that He will never leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5).

That is more than enough reason to celebrate!

Ready for 2006

Last November 2 to 4, Gospel Xpress conducted another seminar where old and new workers underwent further training on writing and sharing the gospel thru their personal testimonies. We reviewed and relearned very important guidelines and tips on door to door mission. We shared with each other our experiences while in the field hoping everyone would learn a lesson or two through them.

Thank you, Harden White

Farewell to one of the originators of the Gospel Xpress.

A Thank You Note

We wish to thank Major Harden White for all the help he has extended to us workers of Gospel Xpress. He is a blessing and we will forever be thankful. His encouragement brought out the best in each of us thus we were able to reach more people for God’s kingdom. May the Lord continue to bless him and his family.

Reports from the Field

Ifugao Exposure

The husband and wife team of Eduardo and Estrella Gonsay submitted to us this report:

They visited a total of 195 houses, witnessed to 231 individuals, had 10 converts, started 7 bible study groups with 12 more individuals scheduled for follow-up work from their home base Nueva Viscaya to Quirino and Ifugao Province. At the same time, the Lord is giving them more opportunities to share GX.

Sharing the Gospel

The old woman is Dummulao Dulinayan. She understands only the native tongue called Lag-ao, which is also the name of the tribe she belongs to. She accepted God’s gift of salvation.

Handing out Comics

Sister Estrella gives out GX Comics after sharing her testimony. Inigupi and Inhabion Mahicon are from a tribe called Banawal.

Eden Jacalne and Malou Tayoni

In Cabuyao, Laguna, they met Rodolfo Pulikit who is very sick with cancer of the lungs. He is thin and pale. They shared to him the good news of salvation and prayed together. He surrendered his life God. The next day, God took him home.

Aside from sharing the gospel through GX, they helped a Christian family look for a church which could help them grow spiritually. Still in Cabuyao, Laguna, Pastor Felix Manalo and some members of his church The Community Christian Church went with the duo for door-to-door evangelism in Centennial Subd. It was a fruitful afternoon. They hold regular bible studies every Wednesday at 3 p.m. as a result more and more are getting to know Jesus Christ as personal Lord and Savior.

Bro. Romy, Lisa, Gary

There are two existing cell groups which were established through GX. One is in Area 1- Dasmarinas the other is in Imus. They shared GX Ministry to Pastor Albert of El Adonai Church in Kawit, Cavite. They will work hand in hand in door-to door evangelism.

Pastor Francis and wife, Gloria

They were guests in a youth fellowship in Pampanga. Not all the attendees were Christians. Because of GX Comics which was awarded to bible quiz winners, more young people were encouraged to attend regular bible studies. Students of a school in this area (IRTS) requested for copies of GX comics for their church outreach program.

Pablo and Vangie Liwanag

A change of attitude, this was what happened to a young man who was so rude to his family and to Pablo and Vangie everytime they hold bible study in their home. He made sure the volume of the radio was at its loudest, he banged doors, and made all sorts of distractions. The whole bible study group asked the Lord to change his heart. Prayer really works! Now he is friendly and tries to be the perfect host by preparing snacks for the bible study group. They were able to share the gospel using GX comics to watermelon vendors, laundry soap vendors, farmers and beggars. Because our comics is very easy to understand, response is always positive.

One Calling

Gospel Xpress team

The whole team took time out to rest in a shaded spot to escape the burning heat of the sun.

Combined efforts of Bro. Chito Tolosa, Pastor Obet of Sanctuary of Praise(SOP), Lorie de Sena (SOP), GX Team- Nen de Sena, Connie de Luna, Francis de Sena, Malou, Eden, Tess, Adela, Lisa and Romy, and a volunteer worker named Gary who is from Lisa’s church.

After two months of regular door-to-door evangelistic and follow-up work in Sampaguita Village in Trece Martirez, Cavite, almost all the households welcomed GX! Pastor Obet is very happy and thankful because his church attendance increased as a result of the outreach.

Acts 16:31 says, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved, you and your household.” This is the challenge we leave behind to all the residents of Sampaguita Village.

“All heaven shall praise your miracles, O Lord; myriads of angels will praise you for your faithfulness.” – Psalms 89:5

Faithful to the Faithful

“Understand, therefore, that the Lord your God is the faithful God who for a thousand generations keeps His promises and constantly loves those who love Him and who obey His commands.” – Deuteronomy 7:9

As God’s workers in His vineyard, we sometimes grow weary. We become easily distracted by our circumstances and surroundings. We get tired of adjusting to people’s varied personalities and lifestyles. We meet all kinds of people as we go through our task of door to door evangelism. It is very easy and tempting to “ just sit back and let the others do it!” But in 1 Timothy 1:12, Paul wrote, “ How thankful I am to Christ Jesus our Lord for choosing me as one of His messengers, and giving me the strength to be faithful to Him…”

We all have our own inner struggles but God has an open invitation for each of us His children to live for His glory and fulfill our purpose. Let’s meditate on His words in Matthew 24:45-47, “ Are you a wise and faithful servant of the Lord? Have I given you the task of managing my household, to feed my children day by day? Blessings on you if I return and find you faithfully doing your work. I will put such faithful ones in-charge of everything I own!”

Matthew 9:37-38

Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest."
