Introduction

Like a newborn baby making its entrance into the world, so it is when a person receives the gift of salvation from the holy God of the universe. The infant sees its environment in a totally new light and with totally new eyes. He feels a sense of wonderment, but he may also feel intimidated by the new dangers he perceives.

To the joy of everyone, there have been many babies being born in my Bible study group. I have come to know my local hospital and where to find the maternity ward quiet well. Fortunately, there is free parking for hospital visitors! It always amazes me to enter the room after the birth of the child and see the parents . . . all the work and preparation they must have had to do before this miracle was born. Just as the child was born from the love of two parents, so are we spiritually born through the love of God. He orchestrated, like your mother and father, your coming into His family and becoming His beloved adopted child.

Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” It is here the New Christian finds himself — grateful for the eternal life he has been given and eager to stretch his new legs and run with it. However, like newborns in the arms of their loving mothers feeding on the precious milk, so it is for the New Christian. He must first start off with the simple, but foundational, milk. In this book, it is my hope that you will discover what scripture explains as your purpose in life, and, through the wisdom compiled here from many great teachers past and present, how to go about accomplishing it.
